Hailing from the Midwest — where his parents’ band Little Eva & The Works frequented clubs, honkytonks and festivals — Nick Schnebelen knows about the blues and its power to connect with people through raw emotions. He also knows how to impress audiences with his lead guitar chops and impassioned lyrics — talents he will display when he comes to Rams Head On Stage on January 18 to open for Davy Knowles.
As founding member of the award-winning family band Trampled Under Foot (TUF), Schnebelen has traveled the world playing festivals, such as the Notodden Blues Festival in Norway, and on the annual Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. Schnebelen now performs with his own band, as do his siblings, Danielle and Kris.
In 2008, Trampled Under Foot won the International Blues Challenge, and Schnebelen won the Albert King Award for Best Guitarist. Shortly thereafter, with Tony Braunagel (“Taj Mahal,” Robert Cray Band) producing, Schnebelen and TUF recorded two great blues releases, “Wrong side of Blues” and “Badlands,” and the latter debuted at No. 1 on Billboard and won Best Contemporary Blues Album at the Blues Music Awards in 2014.
Schnebelen is again working with Braunagel for his next album to be released in 2017. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets, go to www.ramsheadonstage.com/calendar. To learn more about The Nick Schnebelen Band, visit www.nickschnebelenkc.com.
